FAQs
What is home automation?
Home automation creates a platform so that your home is able to think for itself – the lights switch on when it gets dark; the heating switches on when the temperature drops; the irrigation system automatically waters your garden when the soil dries out ... the list is limited only by your imagination. Home automation allows you to link all your appliances to one master control allowing you to, for example, close your blinds, dim your lights and turn on the surround sound at the touch of a button.

What system should I install?
There are two major systems that you can install to automate your home. For a new building or home we recommend using the wired Clipsal C-Bus system, which we install directly into your home’s wiring.
For existing homes we recommend using the Rako wireless range of products.

Can I install automation into my existing house?
Yes, you can. We are able to send out a consultant to recommend what options would work best for you, depending on the complexity of the automation you have in mind.
Can I save on my electrical costs?
Yes, definitely. There are a number of different ways in which an automated office or home is able to help you save on electricity costs.
Some of these include:
- Instructing your home or office to switch lighting and climate control systems off when not in use.
- Programming motion sensors to automatically turn off lights and non-essential appliances, once a set amount of time has passed without activity, in particular areas of your home or office.
- Setting your lighting at less than 100% intensity; saving electricity and making your bulbs last longer.
- Control the air-conditioning systems so they only operate when required, or while there is movement in the area.
Your geyser can be programmed to switch off when you leave for holiday and switch on before your return home. This ensures that you save on electricity, but are still able to have a hot shower when you get home.

How does home automation increase the value of my house?
By bringing your home into the 21st century, you are able to increase the value of your home.
As people’s lives become increasingly busy, the need for a home that performs the tedious day-to-day tasks that are necessary for everyday living is becoming more and more necessary. In addition to creating a home which enhances the occupants’ lifestyle, an automated home also improves the home’s security, and helps cut down on electricity and water costs, all of which add value to your property. In our experience, the value of your home increases by between 8% and 12% with the installation of a home automation system.
How do I integrate my security system into my home automation system?
Simple. We are able to integrate your existing security system with home automation to create an intelligent security system that can, for example, switch lights on if some part of the property has been compromised. Your intelligent system can be set up to contact your security company and SMS or phone you to let you know if your alarm system or sensors have been activated.
